Terms of Service

Last updated: October 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using Lancer you agree to these terms. If you are using Lancer on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorized to bind that business.

2. Accounts and vetting

Lancer is a curated marketplace. Freelancer accounts are reviewed before activation, and we may approve, waitlist, or decline applications at our discretion. You are responsible for the accuracy of your profile and for keeping your credentials secure.

3. Services and contracts

Work is agreed between clients and freelancers through offers and dual-signature contracts on the platform. The contract terms both parties sign govern each engagement, alongside these terms.

4. Payments and fees

After both parties sign, the client pays the total to Lancer through our payment provider. Signing does not charge the client. Lancer retains the displayed platform fee and pays the freelancer once the client approves the delivery, or automatically if the client takes no action within 3 days of delivery. Cancellations and refunds follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

5. Reviews

Reviews are mutual and double-blind: a public review stays hidden until both parties have submitted or the reveal window has passed. Reviews must reflect a genuine engagement and may not be used to harass or retaliate.

6. Disputes

If something goes wrong, raise a dispute from the order page. Our team reviews the contract, deliverables, and communication on the platform, and its resolution decisions are final within the platform.

7. Acceptable use

No unlawful content or services, scraping, interference with the service, or attempts to move communication or payment off-platform. External links and contact details are not permitted before payment. A paid order may contain safeguarded work-resource or delivery links, but communication and payment must remain on Lancer.

8. Liability and changes

Lancer provides the platform “as is” and is not a party to the contracts between clients and freelancers. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in-product, and continued use constitutes acceptance.
